My sweet little guy has turned one last month. Marc and I have enjoyed watching him grow and learn, he is incredibly smart and melts my heart every time I see his sweet face. Some of his favorite things include eating, screaming for the fun of it, chasing Nicolas, Caidence and Charlotte, pulling everything out of drawers, brushing his teeth, wrestling the dog, mimicking sounds, climbing into my lap, singing and his naps with his favorite night-night. He does a donut dance, has a favorite remote and can work our cell phones. He points at everything and says "that" he also touches everything with his pointer finger only. His most FAVORITE thing to do is DANCE. This kid LOVES music and LOVES to DANCE. It doesn't matter where we are or who is watching. If there is good music on you can be sure he has some moves :)

Grammy's fall visit to Virginia

We were so lucky a few weeks ago for Janet to come and visit. Ashley had a free ticket and was nice enough to give it to Janet. Thanks Ash! We got to spend a whole week playing, eating and exploring new places. The colors were beautiful! We found a new Sonic to go to on our way to Williamsburg, such a treat!! Marc and I took a fun filled trip to visit Kiley and Ryan in Chicago. We walked, ate, and cruised our way through the Windy City. We had so much fun learning the history, gazing at the skyscrapers, shopping the "mag mile" and watching an awesome firework show on the pier. Marc was amazed with the L train and kept saying "it's just like the movies". We would go back in a heart beat we had so much fun!

After months of planning and saving we finally made the move to Virginia. We started out 5:00 Friday morning July 22 determined to make it as far as we could. Marc and I figured that the first day would be the best to travel the farthest. With we needed loaded up in our new trailer and the back of Steve and Janet's truck we started the best adventure. Our van had our overnight bags, toys, snacks, water, 4 kids, charlie (our chocolate lab) and lily "the turtle". We were packed to the max excited to start the day. We made it all the way to Tucumcari, New Mexico. It was amazing. We decided to stop at a Sonic in every state to document the fun we were having :) With getting so far the first day and having the best kids, dog, turtle ever we decided to drive the same distance. An amazing 800 miles each day would get us to Charlottesville in three days. So we left Tucumcari by 8:00 the next morning and survived driving over Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and just over the border into Tennessee. It was not a very exciting drive over Texas although we did see things like the "worlds largest cross" and the nicest rest stop I have ever seen. Oklahoma was not terrible the people were nice and the Sonic there had a statue of a horse in front of it. We stopped in Fort Smith Arkansas for dinner and it was an awesome town with beautiful old buildings. We noticed that most people had accents and said y'all. The restaurant was quaint and had delicious southern food. We also made a stop at a Sonic somewhere in Arkansas, this was our least favorite Sonic. The employees would not let us use the bathroom and while Marc was taking our picture he dropped my camera! We made it to Memphis that night at 1:00 in the morning. Everyone was exhausted and crashed instantly, except for my sweet Sawyer. My perfect baby who had traveled perfectly for two days was wide awake. I cant blame him for wanting to move around. I finally got him to sleep and got a few hours of sleep myself. We got out of the hotel earlier than the morning before and as we were backing out this woman started honking at us. Marc stopped and I looked to see if he was backing into someone, I noticed she was pointing at something behind the car and asked him if he put everything in the car. We got out and pulled my MAKEUP bag from under the car. I couldn't believe it. I have had two casualties so far. So on we go, now needing a Sonic earlier we stopped and had breakfast assessing the damage. Tennessee was the longest state to cross and our favorite as far as beauty. We would definitely go back and visit some of the cities. We finally made it into our new home state and drove into the biggest rain storm. Marc was staying really close to the car in front just to be able to see the brake lights, I was definitely keyed up to be driving in a storm like that but we made it through safe. A few hours later we pulled into our new home.

Dance Recital

This has been a long awaited day. Caidence LOVED her first year of dance and can not WAIT to go start again in the fall. The Gala theme this year was "A Day in the Big Apple" and my little ballerina was a lollipop. Not to brag but I think she was the most BEAUTIFUL lollipop :) I cant believe how confidant she was on stage. She new the dance perfectly, smiled her best and had so much fun. If she was nervous she definitely did not let anyone know. I passed on the tradition of starting a charm bracelet and getting ice cream after her performance. Every year she dances she will get a new charm that reflects her dance recital. This year she got a ballerina and an apple. For some reason they didn't have a lollipop so we are on the hunt for that!

All I can say is wow, that was a lot of kids! We had such a great time! A big thank you to everyone who let their kids come and join in on the fun. We had an obstacle course, yummy food and we even closed off the street so the kids could ride their bikes. Before we started the obstacle course we had the kids decorate number plates and decorate their bikes. For the kids favors I filled sports bottles with candy and a winner's medal.

Happy Birthday to my amazing 6 year old. We have had such a great day, starting with the last day of school performance, having a picnic lunch in the backyard, going to the park, having a water fight, dinner at Rosemary's and finally playing with Aunt Janna's snake. Easter was a little different this year. Both Nicolas and Caidence were sick with the flu. Marc was kind enough to stay home from church with them and had me take Charlotte and Sawyer to his parents for dinner and the Easter Egg hunt. We were having dinner with the Kinnesons and did not want to bring sick kids along. Charlotte was kind enough to hunt for eggs for her brother and sister :) As you can see she did quite well. I love this age, everything is exciting and new. She is my beautiful, little energetic girl who melts our hearts with her smile. I am so grateful for my Heavenly Fathers plan, I will have this sweet angel in our family forever.

The Pull Up Fairy came to our house

This is my adorable little Charlotte, as you can see in the picture she is not quite sure about having her picture taken. At the time she was much more interested in throwing rocks into the river. This is the same look I got when I decided last week to start potty training. That's right the dreaded potty training. The mere thought of potty training my children sends me into anxiety. The constant questioning, watching for the "pee pee dance", begging the child to, for the LOVE pee in the toilet!

Then I had this wonderful idea of hiding all the pull ups and telling Charlotte that the Pull Up Fairy took them all away. Then came this look. She ask me to go buy her some more, but I couldn't because the Pull Up Fairy told me not to. She thought for a while then told her dad to do the same. Unfortunately for her she got the same response from dad. I did tell her that if she stayed dry the Pull Up Fairy would bring her a special surprise. Not knowing if this would work and knowing full well we can't go back to the pull ups, I kept praying she would want to do it. It has been five days and for the last two days we have had success! That's right success! Thank goodness for the Pull Up Fairy and personal inspiration.

Nicolas has been having a great time at school. One of our favorite projects for the year was to make this book about spring. He had to come up with a title, sentences for each page and illustrations. We had a great time brainstorming ideas and he only needed a little help from mom.

Sawyer Marc Hansen was born 12/4/2010 at 12:21 pm. He was 9 lbs and 1 oz, 20 3/4 inches long. He has gray blue eyes and brown hair. He was born very alert and very hungry! Besides being 9 days late he is perfect. All three kids gravitate towards him and have been such wonderful helpers. It has been an easy transition into life with 4 with all the help we have received. Once a month blogging is just sad! This past month we have accomplished school parties and programs, dance class, decorating for Thanksgiving, painting our house and completing the kids room. Everything on my "before baby" list has pretty much been taken care of. Marc and I have been working hard on our house and enjoying watching the last things get finished. Of course there are minor things to complete but now that I am 6 days past due those things have taken the back burner.

We loved every minute of having our family here for Thanksgiving. We had so much fun Thanksgiving day working and playing together. Nicolas learned how to ride his bike without training wheels, Charlotte learned how to ride Caidence's bike and Caidence was content racing her brother with her training wheels :) Kelly was our angel this week with taking care of all of us. She is another mom to me and does way to much for our family. She opened her house to us and we had a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner. She also made the best turkey I have ever had. Next year I will do it her way! We had a funny tragedy with one of the pumpkin pies falling out of the refrigerator and falling on the floor. Then Marc and I rushed to make another one and I completely forgot to put sugar in it. We will just say it was more natural tasting. We had a full table and a lot to be grateful for.

Well I am just about a month away from my due date and I cant believe how busy we are! This last week we have patched the stucco on the house and garage. If the weather was going to be nice this weekend we would be painting the house but instead Marc will be building a fence at my parents rental. I have some valences to put up and the rest of the bead-board to paint. I am so grateful that I am having a baby because it has really forced the hand of projects to be finished. We still have the garden to clean out and the white fence to put up in the back yard but everything seems to be coming along. My friend Kelly has been taking a landscaping class and I am hoping she will help me plant flowers in the front after the painting is done. I will post pictures once things have calmed down a bit!

I also am proud of myself for already starting Christmas gifts. I am really excited about what I am making and would share with everyone but dont want to ruin the surprise!

I love to plan parties, it is one of my favorite things to do. This year Caidence came up with her own birthday theme. She wanted a painting party. When asked what that is she said its a party where you paint. Alright, so we set to work getting supplies at Michaels, Target and Costco. I dont think I have ever been to Target or Michaels so many times in two weeks! I will blame my lack of remembering everything on the pregnancy :) Caidence got to invite three friends to join in the painting fun, Marc came up with the idea of making each child an easle to put their canvas on and they turned out great. I also got some shirts and stencils for the kids to make their own shirts and they turned out so great! I love seeing how creative and unique all of the projects turned out. It is one of my favorite parties we have done. The pictures are the best part!

It has been party central here the last few weeks! We celebrated Marc's birthday with his family last Sunday. He wanted a yellow cake with chocolate frosting which in my opinion is one of the best! He has not been that excited for this particular birthday so we are keeping it low key. The kids came up with presents for their dad all by themselves this year. Nicolas got him legos, Caidence got him his favorite candy, and Charlotte got him a blue nalgene bottle. They are very anxious for him to open everything, Caidence was very disappointed he wanted to wait until his birthday! He decided to work today with Adam so this morning we took him and the others donuts for breakfast. I am not sure if we will see him for lunch but I will have a cheese cake and sparkling cider ready for him when he gets home. I wish I had his birthday pictures from last week but I guess I will just have to post those later!

Charlotte's Birthday

Charlotte got to celebrate her birthday twice this year. Once on her birthday with pizza, salad and her favorite apple pie and the second with family on Sunday. We had a great dinner of BBQ chicken legs, salmon, sweet potato fries, cafe rio rice and fruit with dip. I made her a bumble bee cake since her favorite color is yellow. We had a great time spending time with family and friends. She loved opening up all her presents and I can say she has used everything she has gotten. She is such a girly girl I love it. She has changed so much over this last month. She is potty training, learning her ABC's, singing, dancing and keeping up with big brother and sister. She LOVES babies and can't wait for Sawyer to get here. Thanks everyone for a great birthday!!

Nicolas was very excited about his first day of school. That morning after breakfast he told me that he was scared and got a little upset but after talking he felt better and off we went. He took a great picture out front by the tree and thats about all I was able to get of him. He was nervous to meet new people but at the end of the day he told me about all his friends and the cool stuff they did. He was ready to go back the next day. I have helped out twice now in his class and its so much fun to see him in a different environment. He has really grown a lot over these past few weeks and enjoys new fun things to do. We have enjoyed reading his books every night for home work and he is working on reading enough minutes for a free ticket to the fair. Everyday when I pick him up he tells me what letter they learned and who he played with. He has had a great time in Mrs. Zauners class, I guess it doesnt get better than that!

The Great Name Debate

Naming a child is one of the hardest things to do. Especially when it comes to naming a boy. I thought we had agreed to a name but now it looks like thats up in the air...After being depressed last night because we looked up hundreds of names, non of which I like. I prayed about it and am feeling more comfortable with changing the name we had originally picked. We want more of a traditional name but I cant seem to attach to any of them. We discussed grandfathers, presidents, influential people in our lives. All of which have wonderful names but nothing that makes me feel like thats the one...So the debate goes on, we have two and a back up that we like so I guess for now that will do.

Today I took Charlotte to the doctor after because she has been saying her ear hurts for the past two days. Sure enough it was an ear infection and I so wished I took her yesterday because we didn't sleep last night at all! While the doctor was doing his usual check he asked me if he or any other doctor had talked to me about a heart murmur. I do recall a vague conversation of it when she was first born but was told that she would probably grow out of it. Well needless to say it looks like she does have one and the doctor has ordered an echo-cardiogram. Apparently there are two types of heart murmurs, one that is benign and the other is an actual hole in the heart. Now I am not quite certain what the next step is if it is an actual hole, for right now he wants to diagnose it. Of course all this has to come while Marc is on a mountain, not that its critical but the more I sat with the information the more I started to get anxious over it. But I think the best thing to do is not stress at the moment. The weird part is, last night as I sat up half awake with Charlotte I had this dream about the doctor finding something wrong with her besides her ear infection...I guess I will consider that a blessing of the Spirit. I am glad I took her in.

It has really been a birthday week! It started with dinner on Sunday, Adam made an amazing dinner! We started with Halibut ceviche which I could have eaten as my meal! We also had tri tip with chimichurri, roasted sweet potatoes in a sweet chili glaze, cilantro lime rice and an orange cream fruit salad. Oh it was sooo good!! For dessert we had a chocolate cake and mango tapioca cake. Both were amazing, the kids helped me blow out the candles and then Carter asked me where all my presents were. So funny. Well Marc had bought me the easy tone shoes while we were in Virginia so I was not expecting anything. However he drove to Fresno to buy me the purse I posted a picture of earlier. I am loving that purse!! On Wednesday the kids and I had lunch with Kelly and Marc took me to dinner. Yesterday I got my manicure and pedicure and tonight I am going to dinner with Grandma to Woolgrowers. It has been a great week and I am so grateful for my family and friends for making it so special!

We had a great time in Virginia with my mom and dad. Flying on the plane was a big hit with the kids. Nicolas thought it was so cool that the pilot would come on the speaker and talk to everyone. He now is begging me to buy him some toy planes. The kids acclimated to the time change quickly though it took me a few days to get used to it. The first week we were there we met everyone at dads work, went to 2 children's discovery museums, took a golf cart ride through the Frontier museum, almost got to swim at the rec center and went to church. All of mom and dads furniture arrived on Sunday so after church we went to work at getting the kitchen and bedrooms put together. Nicolas and Caidence both got their own rooms and were very excited that they each had their own closets. When we go back for Christmas they will probably kick every one out of their rooms!! Marc flew into DC on Thursday so when we picked him up we searched high and low for a parking spot so we could explore the city. After an hour and mom's head exploding we finally found something. We loaded the kids in the stroller ate our picnic lunch and headed for the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. My favorite part of that museum was the dinosaur bones and all the wildlife animals, the hope diamond didnt hurt either! Marc like the exhibit on evolution, there was a display of human and not so looking human skulls that was to prove how we evolved from monkeys. Interesting but whatever...Nicolas liked the dinosaur bones also and Caidence liked the ocean life exhibit. Then we went onto the Air and Space museum and all the kids were in heaven. We walked through a space shuttle and two different types of air planes. Nicolas kept pulling my arm taking me to see different things. After spending some time there we walked on to the Washington Monument which I think is always beautiful. By this time Charlotte and Nicolas were both asleep. Marc carried Caidence onto the World War II Memorial we sat by the water and admired the reverence around us. We then walked through the Vietnam Memorial and ended our exploring at the Lincoln Monument. By this time everyone was tired and hungry so we headed back to the car that was parked at the Reagan Building. I love all the architecture and history in that city and I hope we have more opportunities to visit and teach our children. On Friday Marc went to a precast plant in Virginia and met with some engineers at my dads work. We toured the campus the Thomas Jefferson founded and engineered, it is so pretty there! Then on Saturday we went to Monticello which is Thomas Jefferson's house and that was amazing! My mom has all the pictures so I will make sure to get those and just have a post for pictures. We had a great fourth of July dinner at my parents neighbors which included some fireworks, toured Charlottesville a little more on Monday and flew back home on Tuesday.

So the kids and I get the opportunity to fly with my mom to Virginia. She is officially moved out of the house and we are going to stay with mom and dad for two weeks. I don't think I have had a two week vacation in a very long time. For the last week we have been preparing for the trip with countless trips to Target and Costco. My children think those are the only stores to shop at, they have everything! Marc told me I need to give them a little more culture and start shopping other places...we shall see...Anyways I have a mountain of new things for the kids to enjoy on the plane, new outfits just for the trip and everything else in between. Marc will fly out on July 1st and we will come home July 6th. It will be so much fun spending one of my favorite holidays in another state! I have a list of things to accomplish today besides the list of things that I need to take. Lets hope I don't forget anything and Marc doesn't go hungry for a week and a half!

Nicolas is officially five as of 3:50 this morning. He is the biggest blessing to Marc and I. He is a great example to our girls and is the best big brother. When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday he said a strawberry and chocolate cake. Then more specifically a knight castle cake. I tried to deliver and he told me tonight that his birthday was the best ever. I am so grateful to have such wonderful examples around my son. I will post pictures from his birthday soon!

Camping for our anniversary

For our anniversary this year we thought it would be fun to take the kids camping. Usually we would plan a trip for just ourselves but having a free weekend we thought this would be fun for the kids. We planned on staying at the Lower Peppermint campsite but to out surprise it was closed. So we drove up the road for a while and found a really cool spot to stop and have a picnic. The kids enjoyed their lunch and stretching their legs. Charlie loved having pinecones thrown so he could fetch them. After lunch we decided to drive up to upper Peppermint to see if we couldnt get a campsite there. On the way we discovered there was a whole lot of snow! The kids loved it but every campsite was closed. We then decided to keep on driving to see if we could find anything. After an hour and no luck we turned back around to go to our picnic spot and camp there. On the way I noticed this road that said Last Chance Meadow and told Marc we should turn around. We drove down the road until it was again blocked off but there was this little hill that was flat and perfect for our campsite. We got everything out and set up camp. The kids and dog loved it there. There was a little snow for them to play on but it wasnt cold and the ground was not wet. We got our fire going and had a great dinner. Then the kids went on an adventure with Marc to find the water we heard. they came back tired and were in bed by 9:00. We woke up at about 7:00 and got breakfast going then we went on another adventure and found a campsite and the prettiest meadow. After we got back from our little hike we broke down camp and made it to the Trail of 100 Giants at 10:00. They have really expanded that trail it took us about an hour to walk it and by then Caidence was so tired and ready to go home. We drove and found another neat spot for a picnic ran around and headed back home. The kids are tired and I am exhausted! I cant wait to go back.

Marc and I decided last night that it would be fun to take the kids to Rosemary's for FHE. We invited Grandma Kelly to join us since we missed our dinner with her last night. The kids eagerly waited all day and were really well behaved. I guess the promise of ice cream can work wonders!!

Caidence and her Primary TALK

Caidence was asked to give a primary talk this last Sunday and all week she was so excited. The week before she gave the closing prayer and did such a great job I thought for sure she wouldn't get nervous. But as soon as she stood up at the podium and looked at all the kids she hid her face in her hands and wouldn't say a word. I was proud of her for trying, it is scary to see 50 people staring back at you. I think next time I will try to prep her a little more. She does a great job every day taking a turn to say the prayer for dinner and before bed. She is a sweet little girl and I am so glad that she is a great example to her brother and sister.

Charlotte is one big ball of energy, she loves to dance, sing Popcorn Popping, read books, and she never leaves the house with out her purse, baby doll and night-nights. She is doing well in nursery although I wonder if she doesn't have anxiety over kids who are her size...She is definitely a mama's girl and a papa's girl. She has her brother and sister wrapped around her finger she gets her way most of the time. She is mischievous, she can get into anything pretty quick. The other night Grandma Kelly was babysitting and she caught Charlotte coloring on the dog...Lucy now has a rainbow coat. She will do anything for cookies and loves to sneak a sip of my sonic drink. She loves to help me load/reload the dishwasher and do the laundry. She is a very smart little girl. She is starting to put sentences together, she is proud of the fact she has pull ups and will pull her shirt up to show everyone. She also shows everyone her hand and tells them that it was hot. I love it when she snuggles, gives me kisses and hearing her say I love you is the best part of my day.

I cant believe it's already March! We have had a busy year already and I dont think that will stop any time soon. Right now I am teaching preschool twice a week for Nicolas's class. We have had so much fun singing, reading silly books, making hats, cloud glasses, painting, writing our letters and numbers and playing games. Four 4 year old boys have a lot of energy! The weather has been better so I have been able to take the kids to the park and have picnics. This has helped when we are at granny's they are so tired from playing that I can put everyone down for a nap for a few hours.

Last weekend we started to build our garden. The kids helped their dad dig holes for the white fence and then decided to paint their rain catchers that they made earlier in the day all by themselves in the kitchen. They got their own plates for the paint and everything. I am sure glad that the paint was washable!

We have also worked on the kids bedroom, here is the finished bead board and molding. We now need to paint and get new bunk beds and bedding. I am so excited! I will post more pictures when the painting is done.

Nicolas and the Christmas Tree

Nicolas has a very specific view on what our Christmas tree should look like. It needs to be tall, have lights, decorations, a yellow star on top (which he will need the ladder to do it himself) and stars on the bottom. I am sure that I can find a gold star tree topper so he can have his wish. We are going to set up the tree tonight and I hope he satisfied with the end result! I will make sure to have pictures. Below are the Christmas pictures from our Ward Christmas party. The kids were excited all day to go and see Santa. This year for Christmas Nicolas wants dinosaures and race cars. Caidence wants princesses and dress up clothes and Charlotte wants what everyone else wants! We are very excited to be spending Christmas with our family.

Well two weeks ago we had an interesting experience with our children during church. Caidence and Charlotte were being quite loud in Sacrament so I had to take them out. Nicolas was happy to follow. After a few minutes of me not letting Caidence play she got upset and decided to throw a horrible fit. I was so embarassed and so I told Nic to go inside the chapel and get his did. My thinking was he would walk over to his dad and tell him mommy needed his help. Well the 4 year old he is decided it would be better as soon as he got him the chapel doors to say "Dad! Dad! Its time to go! Mom said its time to go!" Marc being horrified said "Nic shh, get over here and sit down" Nic walks over to our seat and says "no dad its time to go. Fine dad, fine, you will have to stay here all by yourself!"

And that is about as bad as it gets! All I could do was laugh.

Michael and Cari Jackson came for a visit a few weeks ago and ever since then I cant help but remember all the fun times Brittany, Michael and I had. Some of my earlier memories include Guy Fawkes celebrations at the apartments, being chased by Michael and his brothers in my backyard, church youth dances (enough said), trick or treating, british comedies, toilet paper wars, having Michael tell me that I moved away 5 years when it was actually 2. He did recover nicely, almost driving off the freeway in the van on our way to dinner in Sacramento (although I dont think we ever told our patents...) The list goes on. Its so nice to have such wonderful friends and now see them grown up with wonderful families. I have always like to think that we were soul mates (yes I am sure Michael would roll his eyes) but some friendships survive no matter what. I guess what I want to say is I love you guys! Thanks for being great friends.

Halloween Fun

The kids loved Halloween this year. They were so cute, I fixed Caidence's Snow White costume so she could wear it on Saturday. We started the night going to granny's to show off our costumes. Then we were off to my parents ward party. They had a chili cook off, an awesome band, lots of games and then the kids got to trick or treat the doors in the church building. The kids cant wait to do it again next year.

Wow this month has been crazy!! We started out with Caidence's 3rd birthday. Her party was so much fun and I have pictures to follow. She told me that it was her favorite day...what every mom wants to hear. We had the party at Janet and Steve's. We decorated cookies, hunted for "Snow Whites" apples, had a princess parade, ate pizza and yummy salads and of course cake! I made her a castle cake which was so much fun. It is by far the biggest cake I have done and I loved it. After her party came the huge title wave of the Primary Program, my month for preschool and play group. The Primary Program went great, Nicolas did not say his part but he did sing really well. All the kids did so great I got so many compliments from the stake and leaders in our ward. I also taught Caidence's preschool this month and I cant believe that today was my last day. This group is so good! They listen, play well, follow directions...really a great experience. I will miss them. This month we also went to a pumpkin patch, had a Halloween party with our play group at Teasha's house and did the trunk or treat with our ward. Nicolas and Caidence were both kind of shy at first but after the first few trunks they were eager to say trick or treat. Nicolas was spiderman, Caidence was a butterfly and Charlotte was Cinderella. They all looked so cute and cant wait to dress up to go trick or treating on Saturday.

Caidence is THREE and is so excited to be a BIG GIRL. She loves horses, princesses, purses, shoes and the color PINK. For her birthday I made cupcakes and a cake for her. We had dinner with family then took the cakes and presents over to granny's. She blew out her candles with enthusiasm and opened her gifts with excited squeals. We got her a Sleeping Beauty dress up set and a princess bike. Uncle Adam got her a princess helmet and elbow pads. Earlier in the day my good friend "grandma Kelly" came by to bring her her gifts. She got the most adorable duck bath towel and matching bath puppet. She also brought her a princess balloon which the kids played with up until it got taken away at bed time. I know she had a great day. She proudly told everyone that it was her birthday. She is the cutest three year old ever! She is full of life and personality, a little shy at first but once she gets confortable around you she is bubbly and silly. Happy Birthday Caidence!!

Marc's dear grandfather passed away yesterday morning. I am still full of emotion and at this moment I do not feel articulate enough to express how much I loved him. I will say that he was a man of great worth. and a wonderful example to all around him. Marc, the kids and I loved him dearly, we will truly miss him.

His funeral services will be held Saturday September 26, 2009, 11:00 am at the A Street Building. We appreciate all the love and support our family has recieved.

Today is Marc's 29 birthday! I am so lucky to have such a handsome, awesome husband. We will celebrate by cooking his favorite meal, steak and artichokes with a side of baked sweet potatoes and cowboy beans. Typically he has a pink champagne cake but this year he wants a cheese cake and three berry crisp. It sounds like a delicious night is coming our way! His family is coming over for dinner and to help us form the patio and the front borders. We are so lucky to have family that is always willing to help us with our projects. I think we will have a fun night. Dont forget to wish him a happy birthday!!

Charlotte turned ONE yesterday! We started our day with her favorite breakfast, lucky charms and blueberries. Since it was our playgroup park day I thought it would be fun to make cupcakes for all the kids and moms. We made chocolate cupcakes, vanilla frosting with pink sugar sprinkles. We played at the spray park where she got totally soaked! I thought it was kind of funny but I don't think Charlotte shared my amusement. The kids got pretty tired after an hour so we packed up and took the rest of the cupcakes to Marc for lunch. Later we went shopping with Grammy J for a new birthday dress. We ended our night with dinner and 4 oz. of milk! To my amazement she didn't get sick and didn't wake up screaming! I am going to try just a small amount of milk a day to see how she tolerates it. For her birthday she got a baby doll, a pink sparkly ball and a pink stroller. I cant believe this year has gone by I remember her labor so vividly and all the emotions of her first few moments of life. I love this little girl to pieces. Happy Birthday Charlotte!

We had a great birthday party today. Thank you to all that shared it with us. There were many festivities including, swimming, bounce house, zip line, and treasure hunt. I was a little nervous about the weather but it turned out just fine. We had so much fun!! Nic looked so cute! Big thank you to my parents for letting us have the party at their house and also to Marc's brothers for making an amazing treasure map and the zip line even bigger!! Love you guys!

At 3:20 AM four years ago Nicolas Hansen was born! I can not believe how much he has grown up. When he was born he weighed 9.6 lbs and was 22 in. long, now he is 40 lbs and 42.5 in. tall. His favorite color is red, his favorite animal is a tiger. He loves pancakes, cake, strawberries, tomatoes, ice cream, spaghetti, pizza, chicken nuggets and meat and cheese sandwiches. His favorite song is Happy Birthday to me and he loves to play with daddy and get daddy tickles. It is so much fun to ask him these questions. Some have stayed the same over the years and others have changed. He is such a sweet, full of life boy. He is the best big brother. Marc and I love him so much he is one of the biggest blessings in our lives. Tonight he has requested (with help from daddy) Tony's pizza and chocolate cake. He also would like to swim and go on a bike ride with dad. So now I am off to make a cake and wrap his presents. I shall post birthday pictures after his party on Saturday!

Charlie will be nine months on Tuesday. I can not believe how big she has gotten and how fast she has become mobile. She is crawling, pulling her self up, and furniture walking. She will start out at one side of the couch, walk down it to the easel then over to the door jam. She will then inch her way into our bedroom and get stuck. She screams until I go get her and then it starts all over again. She is so proud of herself. She also loves to take baths. When I start the bath for the older kids she will crawl into the bathroom and scream at me until she gets put in. She really likes to scream at me...She also loves music. She dances whenever the kids sing or there is music on. She also tries to sing along its so cute.

Today I was reorganizing the kids bedroom, I put Charlotte in her crib to play all of a sudden I look over and there she is standing up holding on the rail! I couldn't believe it, at first I thought Nicolas had helped her since he and Caidence were both in the crib. I sat her back down and sure enough she reached for the top and pulled her self up.

We had a very nice Easter Sunday, the kids looked so cute in their Easter outfits! The Easter bunny did visit our kids the night before and the morning was spent eating candy and pancakes.
Nicolas' asthma was acting up the poor thing coughed all through church but once we got to grandma and papa's he was doing better. We spent the day with family, it was nice that my family joined us at Janet and Steve's for dinner. It made the day not so hectic. It was wonderful to see Ana, Frank and Carter. The kids haven't seen each other in a few months, they had so much fun playing. The food was great, the men grilled the food while everyone else stayed inside to play with the kids and get the tables ready. Dessert was amazing. I made an apple pie, Aunt Joyce made cherry pies and Adam made chocolate mousse with a thin mint crust. I have to admit that I ate a slice of the mousse and apple pie...and I wish I had more mousse...Anyway it was a nice Sunday. We missed all of our family that lives out of town!

Miss Charlie is now seven months she is so chunky I love it! She loves to eat, tear things apart, giggle, scream, stand and say mama. She already has four teeth and I discovered two more on top moving down quick. She is not really interested in crawling, she will move herself backwards and roll a little. All she wants to do is walk, I swear she will walk before she crawls. She looks more like Caidence now with Grammy's eyes. She can sleep through the night however still finds the need to wake up at 2:00. I need to let her cry it out I have just been to exhausted to care right now. And since all the kids share a room I am not in the mood to put them all back to sleep. I am hoping once these teeth come through she will be a little more settled.

Other news in our household is I finally feel like I am getting my running groove back. My three mile time is just a few minutes off of what it was before I got pregnant. I need to do speed work. I also a new suit and goggles so I can start swimming at the gym. Marc has been swimming a few times a week and has really enjoyed it. We are trying to loose weight together before the summer. This is the first time in almost three years that he has been able to exercise. His foot is doing really good. He actually jogged the other day on our way to the park. We are hoping that he might be able to run with me. He is trying to talk me into a triathlon however at this moment I do not have the desire. I would swim and run but bike riding is not my thing. That is about all the fun stuff we've got going on.

Saturday was the first that Marc and I have been able to spend together in probably two years. We decided that it would be fun to run together while Nic rode his bike and I pushed the girls in the stroller. We ran over to Mom and Dads to get his bike, then to Sport Chalet to get him a helmet. We found a black helmet with red flames that he thinks it is so cool. After parking at Elephant Bar we set off on our half mile adventure to the park and he did so good! We made it to the park and let the kids play. Marc offered to take off Nic's helmet but he wanted to wear it. Just picture him bike helmet and sunglasses all afternoon. I forgot my camera so I will make sure I get a picture of him, its so cute.

Another exciting thing that happened on Saturday was Matthew got his mission call! My parents got it in the mail and emailed it to him (with out looking). We got on a conference call with him and my sister to find out he is going to SALT LAKE CITY (no joke)!! We are really excited for him, I think it will be a great mission. He enters the MTC on July 8th and my little sister Ashley returns from her mission July 9th...It will be a party week!! We are really proud of Matthew, I think his destination came as a shock (I know I didn't see that one coming) but it doesn't matter where a missionary serves the Lord, it only matters that he is willing to serve the Lord. We love you Matthew!

Spaghetti Dinner

Our wards spaghetti dinner was last Friday and it was great! I was in charge of making the drinks pretty so we did lemonade with fresh strawberries, lemon slices and mint leaves in this fun jar my mom has. Marc and Adam were in charge of making the pasta, not from scratch this time but they did spend most of the night with the blow torch and Adams lobster pot making spaghetti noodles and bow ties. The sauce was of course amazing, thanks to the Moore's, Biron's and Frugatti's. Our dessert auction this year was a little different. We did a silent auction and all though it wasn't as intense it was still very fun. I make a Tinkerbell cake which I thought looked pretty cute. I forgot to take a picture...I am hoping Amberly might have had her camera. All of the desserts looked so good! We were the unlucky ones and did not win but we felt the love with everyone sharing. All in all it was wonderful, good job everyone!!

Trip to Cambria

Charlotte and I went to Cambria this weekend with Grandma Kelly. We had the best time. We shopped in San Luis, had dinner in Cambria, watched girly movies, ate dark chocolate covered apples...it was great! Charlotte was the perfect baby all weekend. It was so easy having one child, I had so much time for myself it was kind of weird. It was cooler there and I brought some pants and a sweater for Charlotte but I was worried she would not be warm enough so I just had to look for something while we were strolling along Higuera in San Louis. We finally ended up in Baby gap where I found the accommodating warm clothes along with a swim suit and new Easter dresses that coordinate for the girls. We also found another plaid dress for Caidence that her Grandma Kelly bought for her and Nicolas got a Superman t shirt, so cute! I love Cambria, Kelly's house is beautiful and the view is amazing. Maybe next time the whole family will go!!

Steven the Great

I think that might be his new official title. Steven was given an amazing opportunity to enter into this business competition in Monoco this last week. His presentation was today and he said it went really well. There was a US magazine that approached him wanting to do a story on him and I told him the only way he could do it was if his sexy (yes loosly phrased..) sister in law was in the background photoshoot...Im just sayin...Today he is going to test drive a Ferarri and take the train to Italy. I think he has just about accomplished most of my dreams four years younger and within a week. So Hansen, Steven Hansen will be coming back to the states in a few days and I can not wait to see pictures and hear more about his trip.

Marc and the electronic bug

Marc and I actually bought a Wii last night. As most of you know we have never owned a game console, we don't ever play video games, neither one of us is very good...Anyway we were at the Urmstons house for dinner and after Nathan showed us his mad skills on their Wii. Marc has talked about getting one ever since and last night while at Best Buy (without me) decided to get one. He has also announced that he wants a new TV, where did he come from, this decision came after seeing my dads new LCD he put in his bedroom. I do admit the price is amazing...And it would be nice to put the TV on the wall and gain footage in our front room. I am just amazed Marc usually does not get excitable about electronics...Maybe it all started with the new computer...Anyway I like it because I have been trying to convince him that a flat screen on the wall would benefit us much more, space wise that is. So I shall keep you all updated to see if and when we get that new TV, maybe after his 90 day evaluation that is today??

Saturday night Caidence cut her ear with hair scissors and needed stitches. After we put the kids to bed one of them decided it would be a good idea to give the cat a hair cut. They managed to get on top of the sink, open the medicine cabinet and get the scissors. They cut a lot of Carmel's hair then I guess Caidence decided she would cut her own hair. She missed and got her ear instead. Luckily urgent care was open until nine so Marc took her because I was freaking out. She was in and out in an hour with three stitches and a new book. Quite the experience never did I think Caidence would be the first to get stitches...

Nicolas came to me last week and said "mom we need to cut your hair", "I do," I responded, "yeah it doesn't look very good." Hmm I knew my roots were bad but not bad enough that a 3 year old would notice. I wonder where he gets his attention to detail from? We all know where he gets his brutal honesty from. So needless to say I got my hair done today. Now if I can just get him to say I need new clothes in front of his dad...then we are in business!

I literally can never wait for February to roll around because I love doing our taxes. It is so exciting to see the dollar amount keep on climbing. I never knew how much fun it could be until a few years ago when I had to file by myself. I was completely intimidated until I realized it was not that big of a deal. Now its my favorite time of year. I officially filed today and can not wait to get our money back so we can stucco the house, oh yeah no more weird looking stucco that turns green in the rain!! Even better Marc has finally admitted that he doesn't have the "time" (thank goodness) to do it himself so we are actually hiring people to do it. Yes shocking I know. So in 10 days the return should hit our account and I shall be doing the tax return dance. Similar to the cookie/fruit snack dance my children do...So good luck to all my fellow tax filers may your tax return dance be more wonderful than mine!!

Caidence and Carmel

Carmel is our new ragdoll kitten. She is the sweetest most patient kitten ever. Caidence loves her so much. She carries her like I carry Charlotte, or sometimes upside down. She makes sure she eats, drinks and goes potty. She takes her kitten to bed for naps and make sure she is in bed with her for bedtime. I am surprised to see how responsible both my kids have become with this kitten, its pretty cute.

Other animal news, I am taking Nicolas and Caidence to go see Delta my aunts horse next week. For Christmas my parents gave them cowboy boots, hats, and really cute outfits and the promise that we will go ride Delta. Caidence loves horses if you ask her what she wants for her birthday or for Christmas it is always a new horse. I am sure after she gets to ride a real horse she will want the real thing, sorry kid you just got a kitten...

Since Christmas Charlotte has gotten two teeth, laughed, rolled over and said dada...She has gotten so big so fast I can hardly stand it. She still has trouble with milk but I have finally gotten used to my new diet that I hardly miss it. I do however on occasion have ice cream and depending on the amount I may or may not pay for it later. She has the sweetest personality I don't know how to explain it but she is so different from Caidence. She definitely balances out the other two and can instantly calm everyone on a bad day.

New Year Maddness

Does anyone else feel like they have a million goals for this year. I swear I have the longest list, probably because some from last year are rolling over. I have decided to take them one month at a time so they don't seem so over whelming. So for the next year I will be posting my months goals. I figure if I have them on my blog and not just on my fridge it will force me to stay on track. So for this month I want to accomplish:

Work out every day
Run a 10k by the end of the month
Pay off our Lowes credit card
Save $100 for our anniversary trip
Finish kids bedroom
Build a dog house

At the end of the month I should be able to check each one of these off, that is if Marc is helpful...I also need to get my kids back on their schedule. Ever since Christmas and our vacation they take their naps way to late then don't go to sleep until 9:30 it is driving me crazy. Part of the problem is they sneak out of bed and get their toys then play for an hour. So the cabinets are a must so the toys can be put away up high. I am also really excited about our anniversary this year. We are going to Catalina in May with out the kids. I found this awesome bed and breakfast on the beach and we are going to go snorkeling, hiking, jet skiing in the ocean and probably take a night cruise to feed the fish. I am just so excited I can hardly stand it. It has been two years since we have gotten away just the two of us. So I have until May 15 to get in swimsuit shape.

The kids have been so much fun already this Christmas season. Caidence has tried to open up gifts under the tree, Nicolas loves to sneak candy off the gingerbread house and Charlotte has been a happy giggly girl. My shopping is just about done I have two more things to get for Nicolas and Caidence hopefully I survive Toys R Us tonight. Last night was Marc's work holiday party and it was really nice. We went to TL Maxwells for dinner and had a white elephant gift exchange. Marc's spam we took was a big hit and he ended up with depends which was pretty funny. I was a tad over dressed but loved my outfit so I didnt mind. It has been probably a year since we have gotten dressed up and went to a restaurant. I forgot how good it feels to wear high heels and lipstick and not have three kids climbing all over their chairs and under the table. Marc is doing really well at Structure Cast last night they told him that they are going to have him be the production manager over the architecture side. He speaks spanish all day long and it has been hard for him to speak english to us when he gets home. Most the time he answers me in spanish and I just look at him blankly. All the workers really like him and tell him he speaks well. One of them asked if he was from Argentina Marc told him no of course but he lived there for two years while on his mission. Last week one of the workers I think his name is Pepe asked if I was white like Marc or if he married a latin girl (probably because he speaks good spanish) Marc says "no she's whiter than me" I guess the guys eyes got big and was like do they get any whiter! I thought it was pretty funny.
